Oath Workshops
Want to be a better ally in the outdoors? At its heart, The Outdoorist Oath Workshops share an educational model that wraps up in an action-based commitment, ahem, an Oath, for Planet, Inclusion, and Adventure (PIA).
The workshop guides you through a) understanding why PIA are the pillars upon which we ground this work, b) key reflections that will allow you to create a personalized plan of action for PIA, and c) an introduction to wayfinding or using nature’s examples as moving and thinking methodologies. Lastly, anyone who attends is welcome to officially “Take The Oath” with us at the top of the workshop.
Stretch Sessions
Stretch Sessions…we loved this phrase as soon as co-founder José Gonzalez offered it up to us. These sessions will be hosted both virtually and in-person, and they are an opportunity to stretch out on the many themes that support our commitment to Planet, Inclusion, and Adventure! Folks who have taken The Outdoorist Oath continuously ask us for more, and so this is more, more opportunities to learn and unlearn, to nurture our joy and understanding of the world around us. Everyone is invited to attend live, and as always, it’s free to join us. Recordings of the sessions will not be available at this time. Topics covered are inspired by Oath Workshops and our communities’ interests.

Take The Oath @ Ruta del Jefe 2024
In 2022, Cuenca Los Ojos invited Sarah to host Ruta del Jefe on their preserve in Sonora, Mexico. Upon the invitation, Sarah asked Karla Robles and Daniel Diaz, Co-founders of Andarres.com, to co-organize the binational Ruta del Jefe event in Mexico in 2024. From the fall of 2022 through the fall of 2023, Sarah, Karla, and Daniel spent over thirty days on the preserve scouting and developing cycling routes, laying out the landscape for the event, and providing feedback to Cuenca Los Ojos for road and facility improvements. Along with their conservation work, Cuenca Los Ojos is making significant investments to increase its outreach and diversify its revenue through eco-tourism and environmental recreation.
Iluminando Las Montañas
“Iluminando Las Montañas” is a family luminaria event and public lands celebration centered on bringing the community of Las Cruces together in recognition of the holiday season and the public lands we call home. The practice of lighting homes, paths, and places of importance with luminarias is a deeply-rooted tradition in New Mexico dating back more than 300 years ago. They bring light to the darkest time of the year, while also drawing communities together in unity and celebration.
