Taking action for the planet, one patch at a time

A big THANK YOU!

In May, we hosted our 2nd ever in person event in Bend, OR. Our co-founder, the lovely Pattie Gonia MC’ed the event alongside the amazing team from The Gear Fix. The Gear Fix works with us through Outside’s Gear Up Give Back program which helps folks donate their gear to various used gear stores. All the proceeds from sales get donated to a non-profit (like us!).

Together, we led our community through a hands-on patch repair workshop so that they can help keep good gear out of the landfill. Thank you so much to Noso Patches for donating all of the fun patches we used at this workshop. Patch repair is a very easy and common repair anyone can do, so we were so happy to help folks get hands on and repair a variety of gear from jackets to sleeping pads. It was so fulfilling gathering with our community and learning some new skills together.

In addition to The Gear Fix team, we were joined by our lovely friends at Oregon Wild, SheJumps, and The Queer Creators Collective who taught all attendees how to get involved locally for planet, inclusion and adventure!

A lil more about our friends…

Oregon Wild is an environmental non-profit that works to protect Oregon’s wildlands, wildlife, and waters. Through the use of grassroots activism, legislative policy, and litigation, Oregon Wild shows us that they mean business when it comes to protecting the environment.

The Queer Creators Collective (QCC) was founded with the intention of creating space for the LGBTQIA2S+ community and highlighting the importance of that identity in the arts. QCC accomplishes this through continuing education scholarships and community focused events.

SheJumps is a non-profit that focuses on serving girls, women, and non-binary folks by creating outdoor recreation opportunities. From mountain biking, to climbing, to community hikes, SheJumps encourages and empowers folks to step beyond their comfort zone in an inclusive community.

This event was made possible by the generous support from our friends at Hydroflask, The Gear Fix, Pizza Mondo, Outside’s Gear Up Give Back program, and Embark Co-working Community. We were so incredibly blessed to work with these brands and companies to bring this event to life.
